Temporary Accommodation, Activities & Welfare Officer
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 18.5 hours per week
Contract: Temporary – until the permanent postholder is in place (ongoing review)
Rate: £23+ per hour
We are seeking a proactive and organised Accommodation, Activities & Welfare Officer to join an FE College in Cambridge on a temporary basis. This role is vital in ensuring our international students have safe, high-quality accommodation and receive excellent welfare support throughout their studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and inspect student accommodation and Homestays, ensuring safeguarding, health and safety, and compliance checks are completed.
- Coordinate student placements in Homestays, residences or private accommodation.
- Act as the first point of contact for accommodation and welfare issues for international students.
- Support ESOL applications, visa processes (CAS) and ensure compliance with UKVI and college policies.
- Maintain accurate records and liaise with homestay families, students, and internal departments.
- Coordinate a social programme for international students, including transport and activities.
- Be part of an on-call rota for out-of-hours emergencies (evenings, weekends).
About You:
You will have:
- A good standard of general education (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent).
- Proven experience in safeguarding, student welfare, or accommodation roles.
- Knowledge of UK visa and immigration requirements (UKVI) and ESOL admissions.
- Strong administrative and compliance skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, and stakeholders.
- The ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, and travel locally for inspections.
- An enhanced DBS certificate in place and the ability to start at short notice.
