Finance Business Partner (Interim Cover)
Location: Sheffield (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Rate: £23 to £25 per hour
Contract: Full-time, temporary (minimum 2 months, potential to extend or become permanent)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join an FE College in Sheffield on an interim basis. This position is required to provide essential cover until the permanent role is filled. The college is open to receiving applications from candidates interested in both interim and permanent opportunities. As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in providing financial support, analysis, and insight to budget holders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journals including payroll, ESFA funding allocations, exam costs and interdepartmental recharges
  • Provide monthly financial reports to budget holders including staffing and non-pay analysis
  • Conduct monthly reviews of year-to-date variances and hold meetings with department heads to discuss financial performance
  • Support budget holders with quarterly forecasting and annual budget setting
  • Ensure accurate coding of credit card expenditure in collaboration with the Procurement team
  • Assist with the completion of Office for National Statistics returns
  • Respond to coding and budget queries in conjunction with the wider Finance Business Partnering team
  • Maintain up-to-date procedure notes and contribute to continuous service improvement
  • Promote safeguarding, equality and diversity in line with college values
  • Liaise effectively with finance colleagues and departments across the college to ensure a consistent and professional service

Person specification

  • Previous experience in a Finance Business Partner or Management Accountant role
  • Strong month-end reporting and variance analysis skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with non-finance stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in the education sector is desirable but not essential

 

This is a flexible opportunity offering hybrid working arrangements. You will be based on-site in Sheffield for three days per week, with the option to work remotely for two days.
