The Role
An experienced Media Lecturer is required to teach learners across all the levels of Media Studies qualifications. Ideally you will need knowledge of BTEC qualifications and have the qualifications and experience to deliver Media – Animation, Gaming and Graphics/ TV, Film and sound/Esports courses. The ideal candidate will also and have experience in and up to date knowledge of the industry.
Skills and Experience
For this role, you will need to have proven experience in teaching and/or relevant industry experience. You will have achieved a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE or equivalent) – and be a qualified FE teacher (or be willing to work towards this).You will need to have great communication skills – able to articulate clearly and confidently to class groups, in an engaging way. You will also need efficient administration skills to support good student record-keeping.
Moderation and Assessment:
- Participate in the moderation of assessments to ensure consistency and fairness in grading.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to aid their academic and professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment outcomes.
Student Support:
- Offer academic and pastoral support to students, addressing any issues that may impact their learning experience.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Administrative Duties:
- Complete all required administrative tasks related to teaching and assessment.
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated with the latest developments in media education and industry practices.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
Requirements:
- A degree in Media or a related field.
- A teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) is required.
- Experience teaching Media at the FE level is desirable.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Child and Adult DBS on the update service (or willingness to undergo DBS check).
- Adult barred list check required due to the presence of a large SEN department on campus.
