The Opportunity
A well-established Further Education college in the Tyne & Wear region is seeking to appoint a dedicated Electrical Installation Lecturer to join its growing Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction department. This permanent, full-time role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact by teaching and supporting the next generation of electricians.
This position involves both workshop-based practical teaching and classroom-based theoretical instruction, covering areas such as AC theory, single-phase and three-phase systems, and the latest 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across Electrical Installation programmes
- Teach practical skills and underpinning theory up to Level 3
- Support learners’ academic and personal development through tutorial guidance
- Create and maintain schemes of work and lesson plans
- Contribute to course development, review, and quality assurance
- Engage with parents, employers, and external stakeholders as required
- Participate in examinations, assessments, and student support activities
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Candidate Requirements
- Strong subject knowledge and vocational expertise in Electrical Installation
- Experience teaching or training learners, ideally to Level 3
- A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one)
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and administrative skills
- A learner-centred approach with flexibility and enthusiasm
- Commitment to continuous professional development
