The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Curriculum Manager to lead and manage the Joinery and Painting & Decorating curriculum areas. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a dedicated professional ready to shape and lead a team in delivering high-quality education and training within a modern, well-resourced environment.

In this role, 50% teaching will be expected, which is comprised of 12 hours per week of classroom-based teaching. The remaining time will be spent on management responsibilities, curriculum development, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Joinery and Painting & Decorating curriculum areas, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.

  • Line manage and support a team of lecturers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture.

  • Drive curriculum development, ensuring alignment with national and regional priorities, as well as industry standards.

  • Ensure compliance with awarding body requirements and internal quality assurance processes.

  • Efficiently manage departmental budgets and resources.

  • Foster strong relationships with employers to enhance curriculum relevance and improve employer engagement.

  • Oversee student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression.

  • Deliver 12 hours per week of teaching as part of a 50% teaching commitment, while balancing management and leadership responsibilities.

Essential Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent).

  • A Level 3 qualification or above in Joinery, Painting & Decorating, or a related trade.

  • Proven experience in teaching and curriculum development in a further education or training environment.

  • Strong leadership and management experience in an educational setting.

  • Excellent knowledge of current developments in vocational education and the construction industry.

  • Outstanding organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing curricula at programme lead or coordinator level.

  • Assessor and/or IQA qualifications.

  • Experience working with apprenticeships and work-based learning.
