Job Title: Teacher of Maths
Hours: 37 hours per week.
Aims and Purpose of the Post:
- To teach a range of students to develop their Maths skills and qualifications.
- To assess and track student progress.
- To contribute to the development of the Mathematics curriculum.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Teach students in GCSE Maths and Functional Skills as agreed with the Head of School – Maths & English.
- Assess students and monitor progress through effective tracking.
- Liaise closely with curriculum teams to ensure effective and timely student progress.
- Counsel students and maintain discipline as required.
- Participate in the recruitment of students, including attendance at shows and careers conventions.
- Engage in curriculum development to meet changing demands and planning.
- Participate in internal verification, auditing, and other quality monitoring processes to ensure exemplary service and attention at all times.
- Assist in the maintenance and sustainable development of resources and commercial activities.
- Attend day and evening meetings, courses, etc., considered beneficial to the organization and the individual.
- Promote and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Promote and adhere to health & safety policies and procedures.
- Manage student conduct in accordance with organizational policies.
- Promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable groups in all aspects of organizational life and ensure safeguarding arrangements are adhered to at all times.
- Actively promote and commit to best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Contribute to and demonstrate the positive promotion and role modelling of core values, generic competencies, and professional behaviours expected of all staff.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Principal and as may be reasonably expected commensurate with the post. This may include temporary or permanent redeployment to an equivalent grade of post within the organization.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications:
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent
- Minimum of grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
- Appropriate professional qualification or equivalent
- Willingness to work towards and achieve a Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Certificate in Education) or equivalent
- Commitment to and evidence of CPD
- Full and clean driving license
Experience & Knowledge:
- Experience and knowledge of teaching and assessing Maths GCSE
- Experience of working flexibly and positively, adapting to changing work patterns
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from employees, customers, and students
- Ability to motivate students
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively and efficiently
- Ability to lead on developing, planning, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality, motivational, and inclusive learning experiences
