English Lecturer – Further Education
Location: Wigan
Salary: £30,000 – £40,322 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time 

The Protocol Group is proud to be working in partnership with an established and respected Further Education college in Wigan, who are seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Lecturer to join their dynamic teaching team.

Role Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English lessons across a range of programmes, including GCSE and Functional Skills.

• Support learners of varying abilities, tailoring resources and teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

• Track and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and supporting achievement.

• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement within the English department.

• Participate in quality assurance processes, including internal verification and standardisation.

• Maintain accurate records in line with college requirements and awarding body expectations.

• Support learners with pastoral care and help promote a positive learning environment.

• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the student experience and share best practices.

What We’re Looking For:

• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).

• A degree or relevant qualification in English or a related subject.

• Experience teaching English in a Further Education or post-16 setting (GCSE and/or Functional Skills).

• Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.

• A learner-centred approach with a passion for inclusive education and raising attainment.

• A flexible, team-oriented attitude and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
