Learning Support Assistant (hospitality and catering)
Full-time, temporary until 31st July 2025
South Yorkshire based college.
£14 per hour
To provide learning support, as directed by the Learning Support Lead, to students with declared learning difficulties, disabilities and / or health conditions, contributing towards them achieving their learning goal. To support the college’s exam invigilation processes across the college.
Main Duties
- Provide learning support to named students using a range of learning support strategies.
- Adapt tasks, resources and learning activities ensuring named students are able to engage, access learning and remain on-task.
- Promote and enable use of assistive software and equipment to facilitate learning.
- Actively seek opportunities to promote the student’s self-esteem, confidence and independence.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum tutors to plan support for named students that meets the learning outcomes.
- Provide assistance to students who need support with accessing and navigating the college environment.
- Complete accurate daily support records, to include support profiles, targets and reviews as part of additional learning support audit requirements and quality assurance activities.
- Use the college’s Management Information System to retrieve and input relevant student information.
Must have
- Relevant qualification within hospitality/catering such as a level 2 or 3 Diploma in professional cookery or food service.
- Experience working in a hospitality or catering environment.
- Teaching Assistant qualification or Level 2/3 certificate in learning support (desirable but not essential if you have experience)
- DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
