Lecturer – Carpentry

This exciting role offers the opportunity to design and deliver Carpentry courses to a diverse range of learners, in both practical and theoretical settings. The successful candidate will also contribute to the ongoing development of the department, provide tutorial support to students, and undertake essential administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality teaching and assessment across a range of Carpentry programmes.
- Ensure all teaching is in line with awarding body requirements to promote student achievement.
- Develop and maintain teaching materials, including handouts, assignments, and electronic resources.
- Prepare Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment.
- Carry out moderation, assessment, and verification processes.
- Support students in integrating Maths and English into the vocational curriculum.
- Provide tutorial guidance to students, track and review their progress, and communicate feedback to learners, parents/guardians, and employers.
- Arrange and support students’ work placement opportunities.
- Assist in student recruitment, admissions, and promotional events to raise awareness of College and Faculty activities.
- Participate in curriculum development, course reviews, and evaluation processes.
- Maintain industrial links and professional development within the Carpentry and Construction sector.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and College procedures.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Industry experience within the Carpentry and Construction sector.
- A minimum Level 2 vocational qualification in Carpentry.
- Ability to deliver inspirational teaching to learners of varying ages and abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to student success and development.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
Desirable:
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one).
- Experience in assessing and verifying vocational qualifications.
- Familiarity with integrating core skills such as Maths and English into vocational learning.
