Learning Support Mentor

Temporary position

37 hours per week

£20-25 an hour

 

We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Mentor to join a leading FE College in South Yorkshire. In this role, you will serve as a Tutorial Learning Mentor, providing support to a caseload of learners. You will play a key role in ensuring that students are encouraged, empowered, and have seamless access to college services, as well as the knowledge and guidance to access external resources when needed.

 

Role Details.

  • Position: Learning Support Mentor
  • Contract Duration: Until 04/04/2025
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday: 08:30 to 17:00
  • Friday: 08:30 to 16:30
  • £20 – £25 per hour, dependent on experience

 

 

Key Responsibilities: As a Learning Support Mentor, you will work closely with students, providing tailored support to help them thrive in their learning environment. Your role will include:

 

  • Identify, through communication with subject teachers, parents, guardians and external agencies, at-risk learners
  • To listen to learners and embed a solution focussed approach to barriers to learning
  • To develop strategies to help learners who are underperforming to understand why and seek solution
  • To work with learners in 1-1 or small groups to implement strategies to support building of self-esteem and confidence
  • To develop small group activities to foster peer support, anger management sessions etc.

 

 

Essential Requirements.

  • Previous experience working with students with challenging behaviour.
  • Level 4 teaching qualification
  • Experience of teaching/delivering tutorials or undertaking pastoral care in an education environment
  • A passion for supporting young people and fostering a positive learning environment.
