Skills Coach – Civil Engineering
Location: Hull
Salary: £18,493.18 per annum
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Protocol Group, working in partnership with a leading Further Education college in Hull, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Skills Coach – Civil Engineering. This is an excellent opportunity for an industry professional to play a key role in the development of future civil engineers by supporting and assessing learners throughout their apprenticeship journey.

The Role
The Skills Coach will be responsible for supporting learners in the workplace, providing training, mentoring, and assessment to ensure they develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for their qualifications. The role will involve working closely with employers to ensure the apprenticeship programme meets industry standards and supports workforce development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting workplace visits to assess learner progress and provide guidance.
- Delivering high-quality training and assessment sessions tailored to individual needs.
- Supporting learners in achieving their functional skills where required.
- Building strong relationships with employers to enhance the apprenticeship experience.
- Providing careers advice and guidance to support learner progression.
- Promoting a culture of inclusion, safeguarding, and well-being.
Candidate Requirements
- A Level 4 or higher qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- An assessor qualification (or a willingness to obtain one).
- Industry experience in civil engineering.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules and the Apprenticeship Levy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage learners and employers.
- IT proficiency and the ability to travel for workplace visits.
