Job Overview:
The Programme Leader In Engineering will be responsible for the academic leadership and management of a computing-related degree programme. This role involves overseeing the programme’s development, delivery, and quality assurance, ensuring that it meets industry standards and provides a high-quality learning experience for students. The Programme Leader will work closely with faculty, students, and industry partners to keep the programme content relevant and innovative, preparing graduates for careers in the rapidly evolving field of computing and Engineering.
Specific duties and responsibilities
The key responsibilities of a programme leader are to:
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of the programme.
- Ensure a positive academic student experience.
- Monitor, review and enhance the teaching learning and assessment of a programme
- Manage and ensure all assessments and marking are delivered appropriately and to the required standard.
- Work with both internal and external stakeholders to support the management of the programme.
Experience and Qualities:
Essential:
- Experience in academic programmes’ management.
- Experience of teaching, curriculum development and quality management and enhancement in an HE environment.
- Evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review.
- Evidence of a positive impact at discipline programme level beyond own teaching.
- Understand equal opportunity issues as they may impact on academic content and issues relating to student need.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groups.
- Able to demonstrate independent and self-managing working styles.
- Able to undertake duties at different premises including any campus within London as required.
- Expected to work outside of normal office hours as required.
- Expected to engage in activities associated with promotion, marketing and public outreach of the subject area.
Additional Requirements:
- a PhD/EdD and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience at a recognised UK university;
OR
- a MSc/MA/MEd and a minimum of 5 years teaching experience at a recognised UK university.
OR
- A MSc/MA/Med minimum qualification with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience at a recognised UK university and is studying for a teaching qualification or has obtained a teaching qualification: FHEA, PgCert, PGCE etc.
