Job Title: Lecturer – Supported Learning (Creative Subjects)

Location:

England, East of England, Cambridgeshire-based College

Job Type:

Fixed Term Contract until September 2025, expected to work Part-Time hours (22 hours per week)

£16,306.75 – £24,003.18 (Full time equivalent £27,425 – £40,369) Per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and tutor a group of students with moderate entry-level learning needs, particularly in the Introduction to Creative Industries course.
  • Design and implement schemes of work, learning resources, and assessment schedules.
  • Support internal Quality Assurance processes and prepare accredited work for sampling.
  • Teach English and maths at Entry and Level 1, preparing students for functional skills qualifications.
  • Identify and address students’ learning support needs, including welfare concerns and referrals.
  • Track and monitor students’ EHCP targets and support their progress.
  • Prepare and adapt learning materials in collaboration with mentoring staff.
  • Direct Learning Support Mentors (LSMs) to ensure rapid progress.
  • Hold regular tutorial meetings with students and liaise with parents, carers, and professionals.
  • Undertake Proact-SCIP and first aid training.
  • Produce written reports for EHCP meetings.
  • Participate in cover rota, welcome events, peer observations, and training.

Essential Attributes:

  • Qualifications: DTLLS or equivalent, Level 4+ in a creative subject or SpLD, L3 in specialist skills, L2/GCSE in English and maths.
  • Experience: Substantial experience in supporting learning, mentoring, or tutoring, especially in life skills, work skills, and entry-level maths and English.
  • Skills: Knowledge of specific and global learning difficulties, ability to differentiate teaching, good administration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Special Conditions:

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, undergo training, and travel independently.
  • This role is defined as regulated activity, requiring an enhanced DBS disclosure check.
